Virality

When a piece of content spreads well beyond a creator's existing audience through sharing.

What it means

Virality is when a post breaks out of your normal audience and gets shared far beyond it, reaching people who've never heard of you. It's driven by content people feel compelled to pass on - something surprising, useful, or resonant enough to share.

It's inherently unpredictable. You can raise the odds with strong hooks and shareable formats, but no one reliably manufactures a viral hit on demand.

Why it matters

A viral post can introduce you to thousands at once, but virality is a spike, not a foundation. The creators who benefit most are the ones with a steady body of on-voice content ready to convert the sudden attention into a lasting audience.
