Dwell Time
How long a viewer spends on a single post before scrolling - a hidden ranking signal.
What it means
Dwell time is the number of seconds a viewer lingers on your post before moving on. Unlike likes and comments, it is invisible to you, but platforms measure it closely as a proxy for whether the content was worth showing.
Formats that slow the scroll - carousels, well-paced threads, a video that opens on a question - tend to earn more dwell time than a single line of text.
Why it matters
