Ghostwriting Brief Template for Client Content (Free)

Brief a ghostwriter or AI tool to write in a client's voice, not their own.

What the brief needs to cover

Client name and professional context. The audience: who reads this, what they care about, what level they are at. The content pillars: three to five topics the client owns. The voice rules: five patterns extracted from existing posts. Examples of good and bad posts so "voice" is concrete, not abstract.

The voice rules section is the most important part

Without concrete voice rules, every ghostwriter - human or AI - defaults to their own patterns. The brief needs to say, in specific terms, how this person writes: long or short sentences, first-person stories or third-party examples, hedged or assertive, humor or straight.

Pull the rules from real posts, not from how the client describes their voice. People describe their voice as they want it to be; their posts reveal how it actually is.

Update the brief when the voice evolves

A brief written from last year's posts will produce last year's voice. Revisit the brief every quarter, add new example posts, and update any rules that no longer fit. Voice is not static - and the brief should not be either.

Create content in your voice - at scale

SelfScale learns how you write from your own posts, so every draft sounds like you, not a generic chatbot.
