Cross-Posting
Publishing the same content across multiple platforms - effective only when adapted, not copied verbatim.
What it means
Cross-posting is putting one piece of content on several platforms. In its lazy form - identical text everywhere - it reads native on none of them: aspect ratios break, hashtags misfire, and the tone fits one audience at most.
Done well, cross-posting shades into repurposing: the core idea travels, but the packaging is adapted so each platform gets a version that belongs there.
Why the distinction matters
Platforms increasingly detect and downrank content that was obviously made for somewhere else. Adapting per platform isn't just politeness to the reader - it protects your reach.
