Building in Public Checklist (Free)

Specific numbers and metrics - even small ones - outperform vague progress updates. Failures with a lesson land better than polished win stories. Questions asked publicly invite the audience into the thinking. The format that builds the most trust is: what I tried, what happened, what I learned.

1. Is the update specific enough to be useful, or is it just a status? 2. Does it share a genuine uncertainty or failure, not just curated progress? 3. Is there a learning or question the audience can engage with? 4. Does it give credit to people who helped? 5. Does it avoid making promises about future results you cannot guarantee?

Building in public in a forced or performative way reads immediately as a content strategy rather than genuine sharing. Write updates the same way you would tell a trusted peer - specific, honest, without the performance.
