The Difference Between a Niche and a Corner

Most creators find a niche. Few find the corner that's actually theirs.
A niche is just a room with other people in it
"Personal finance" is a niche. So is "marketing for founders" and "productivity for remote workers." The problem with stopping at the niche is that the niche is already occupied - by people who have been there longer, with larger audiences, and with established associations. Entering a niche puts you in competition. Finding a corner puts you in a space that is effectively uncontested.
A corner is your specific angle
A corner is where the niche intersects with your specific background, your specific perspective, and your specific honest disagreement with how the niche usually talks about things. It's not a sub-niche (still a room with other people). It's a stance that no one else could hold in quite the same way because it comes from who you specifically are.
The test: could another creator take your content and post it without it feeling off? If yes, you're in a niche. If the content is specifically anchored in your experience and positions, you're in a corner.
